Vehicle Communication Information, Power Steering Control Module (PSCM)

Description of parameters

POWER SUPPLY
Measurement range 0-20.4 V.
Shows the current voltage of the 30-feed to Power Steering Control Module (PSCM).

BATTERY VOLTAGE, (CEM)
Measurement range 0-30 V.
Indicates the present battery voltage from the central electronic module (CEM). Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) receives the battery voltage signal via the CAN network.

POWER CONSUMPTION PUMP MOTOR
Measurement range 0-127.5 A.
Indicates the present power consumption of the pump motor. The power consumption is measured indirectly at the output for the power stage for the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM). The power consumption can vary considerably depending on the present operating situation.

Hint: In extreme cold power consumption may be considerably higher. If steering takes place, the power consumption will increase significantly.

PUMP MOTOR SPEED, ACTUAL VALUE
Measurement range 0-5000 rpm.
Shows the pump motor's current rpm, the rpm is measured with rpm sensor located in the pump motor of Power Steering Control Module (PSCM).

Hint: The speed must correspond to the parameter "Pump motor speed desired value". A difference of approximately 30Â rpm between the Actual value and the Desired value is normal. In extremely cold conditions, significantly greater differences can arise between the Actual and the Desired values.

PUMP MOTOR SPEED, DESIRED VALUE
Measurement range 0-5000 rpm.
Shows Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) requested pump motor rpm. The requested pump motor rpm is indirectly the control of power steering action that the power steering module considers optimal for the current driving situation.

Hint: The speed must correspond to the parameter "Pump motor speed Actual value". A difference of approximately 30Â rpm between the Actual value and the Desired value is normal. In extremely cold conditions, significantly greater differences can arise between the Actual and the Desired values.

STEERING WHEEL MOVEMENT SPEED
Measurement range 0-1020° / s.
Indicates the present speed of steering wheel movement. Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) receives the steering wheel movement signal via the CAN network from the steering wheel module (SWM). The steering wheel module (SWM) registers the number of degrees/seconds by which the steering wheel angle is altered during a steering wheel movement.

Hint: When the engine is running and no steering wheel movement is taking place, the value must be 0° / s. A rapid steering wheel movement should produce a high value, while a slower steering wheel movement should produced a low value.

TEMPERATURE IN THE CONTROL MODULE
Measurement range -40- +215 °C.
Shows the current temperature that the internal thermistor in Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) registers.

Hint: Diagnostic trouble code will be set if the temperature exceeds 125Â °C or if the temperature is below -40 °C. High outdoor temperature or engine compartment temperature combined with "hard driving" can cause diagnostic trouble code to be set.

VEHICLE SPEED
Measurement range 0-255 km/h.
Shows current vehicle speed. Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) receives the speed signal via CAN-net, from Brake control module (BCM).
