Condition
The Forward Sensing Module (FSM) checks communication on the sensor CAN. The Supplemental restraint system module (SRS) regularly transmits messages on the CAN network. These messages contain information about which signal configuration ID applies to the vehicle. The control modules on the CAN network have the same signal configuration ID so that they can communicate with each other. The control module compares its configuration ID with the signal configuration transmitted on the sensor-CAN by the Supplemental restraint system module (SRS).
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:
- The control module's configuration ID differs from the ID that the Supplemental Restraint System Module (SRS) transmits.
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- Ignition switch position II.
- Control module supplied with power.

Note! The control module can only detect the fault once the test has been started and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored when the conditions are met.

Possible source

Hint: If the actual DTC is stored at the same time in another control module, fault trace the Supplemental restraint system module (SRS).

- Incorrect configuration ID (the control module is not intended for this vehicle, for example it is a used control module with different software/hardware).
- Open-circuit on the CAN wiring, for sensor CAN, between the control module and Supplemental restraint system module (SRS).
