Removing the cylinder head
Note! As the illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and / or models, some variation may occur. However, the essential information in the illustrations is always correct.
Preparatory work
Remove:
- the cover, 4 x M6
- chain tensioner screws, 2 x M6
- filter x 2, discarded.
Remove the cover on the intake camshafts, 16 x M6.
Note! To prevent damaging the components, ensure that the camshaft is not against the lifter.
Note the location.
Lift out the camshafts.
Removal
Removing the cylinder head
Caution! Do not damage the gasket mating surfaces. The cylinder head gasket has very little chance of sealing any damage to the gasket mating surface.
Remove the cylinder head's screwed joint, start with the screws closest the ends, then work alternately towards the middle.
Remove:
- the screws
- the cylinder head.
Place the cylinder head upside down on a clean, dry absorbent covered (paper wipes for example) surface. This is to prevent damage to the gasket surface of the cylinder head.
Scrap the gasket.
