DESCRIPTION:

When customers report about possible wind noise, use this guide to better identify the source.

TOOLS

MATERIALS

SERVICE:

Install tape (PN 9511083) as described on the following page to seal/cover the suspected gaps/areas. Then remove the tape piece by piece until the wind noise reappears. Use the leak tracer (Tool 9814107) to help you find the noise source/location more accurately.

Once you have determined the source of the wind noise, check TIE for relevant RTJ's. It's important to use the specified tape because of its adhesive and solid shape characteristics.

Tape all openings on the side where the wind noise is present.

Make sure that the tape is attached into the corners as shown.

Test drive the vehicle to verify that the noise is gone. Then remove the tape piece by piece until the wind noise reappears.

Use Leakage detector 9814107 to more accurate find the location of the area creating any wind noise.

(Note! Always follow the manufacturer's precautions when handling this equipment.)
