DESCRIPTION:

A new procedure to measure power steering system pressure has been developed.

Note!
Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential information is always correct.

Removal





Remove the battery.





Remove battery tray.





Remove nut for pressure pipe.





Warning!
Be prepared to collect escaping fluids.
Disconnect pressure pipe from pump.

Warning!
Power steering oil is extremely flammable. Make sure that the power steering oil is not spilled on the engine and that the cover on the reservoir with power steering oil is sealed and closed.





Use: Nipple, 9995175 and Nipple, 9995319.





Use: Manometer, 9995055.





Installation (prep for testing)
Tightening torque: Battery lead to battery, 2.5
Nm (1.8 ft-lbs or 22 in-lbs).





Start the engine and idle.





Turn valve as shown and monitor pressure





Close valve as shown for no more than 2-3
seconds and monitor pressure.
Note that the pressure becomes very high
and the 2-3 second time duration must NOT
be exceeded.





Turn valve as shown.





Turn steering wheel to each lock (left and right)
for no more than 2 - 3 seconds and monitor
pressure.

Removal (after testing)
Remove battery.





Remove: Manometer, 9995055.





Remove: Nipple, 9995175 and Nipple,
9995319..





Installation
Tightening torque: M6, 10 Nm (7.4 ft-lbs or
88.5 in-lbs)





Warning!
Be prepared to collect escaping fluids.

Warning!
Power steering oil is extremely flammable. Make sure that the power steering oil is not spilled on the engine and that the cover on the reservoir with power steering oil is sealed and closed.

Tightening torque: Pressure line to power
steering pump, 30 Nm (22 ft-lbs)
Install battery tray.





Tightening torque: M6, 10 Nm (7.4 ft-lbs or
88.5 in-lbs).

Install the battery.

Perform power steering system bleeding
according to VIDA.
