Installing The Cylinder Head






Installing the cylinder head

Note! Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential information is always correct.

Installation


Caution! Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.

Caution! Make sure that the threaded holes for the cylinder head screws are free of fluid.

Use: Gasket solution, 1161 440





Thoroughly blow clean around the oil ducts in the cylinder head.
Check that the left-threaded sleeves go to the bottom.
Torque: Sockets, cylinder bolt , 10 Nm






Caution! Take extra care not to damage the mating faces.

Torque: Cylinder head Stage 1: 45 Nm Stage 2: 45 Nm Stage 3: 90 degree Stage 4: 180 degree





Reinstall the tappets in their original position.






Caution! Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.

Fit new O-rings around the spark plug sockets. 951 2767 Roller 951 2767 Roller
Use: Liquid gasket, 116 1059
Apply fluid gasket to the camshaft cover. The surface should be fully covered with no excess










Turn the camshafts into position





Lubricate the camshaft lobes, the camshaft bearing surfaces and the top of the tappets. Install the camshaft cover. Screw in all screws. Apply so that the cover is parallel to the cylinder head. Use sequence 1-9 and tighten the camshaft cover crosswise, a few turns at a time, towards the cylinder head until full contact is reached. Hand tighten the other screws.





Tighten the screws in the sequence 1-27.
Torque: M7, 17 Nm





Tighten the screws in the sequence 28-60.
Torque: M7, 17 Nm
