Control module
The task of the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) is to control the hydraulic opening and closing of the tailgate. The control module monitors the movement both when closing and when opening, and can cancel it if anything obstructs the movement.
Vehicles manufactured up to and incl. structure week 200947 also have pinch sensors in the mouldings, so that Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) can cancel if something is trapped.
The Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) is located above the left rear wheel, inside the cargo compartment panel where it is connected to the hydraulic pump and hydraulic tank.
The Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) communicates via the CAN network to the Central electronic module (CEM).
The control module checks activations and input and output signals via an integrated diagnostic system.
A diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects an error. In certain cases the control module replaces the faulty signal with a substitute value.
Any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are stored in the control module memory. This information can be read off using the diagnostic tool via the data link connector (DLC) in the vehicle.
For further information, also see Signal specifications.
Signals
The table below summarizes input and output signals to and from the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT). The illustration below displays the same information with the Volvo component designations.
Note! Pinch sensors (7/227 A and 7/227 B) are only found on vehicles manufactured up to and incl. structure week 200947.
