Note! Some steps in these Installation instructions are presented with illustration only.
- Take three screws and nuts from the kit and install the connector in the bracket.
- Remove the rubber grommet in the floor and place it to one side, it shall not be used again.
- Insert the cable with the connector into the hole in the spare wheel well and install the rubber grommet.
Note! Install the rubber grommet so that the cable points to the left on the inside.
- Adapt the length of the cable from the connector to the rubber grommet so that the cable is not too slack beneath the car.
- Check that the cable does not rub against the radiated heat shield. Bend if necessary.
Points 9-16 apply to vehicles manufactured before w0946.
- Press in the catches on the sides of the fuse holder and pull out.
- Fold the insulation mat on the left-hand side at the front of the cargo compartment to one side.
- Route the cable from the rubber lead-in and along the existing cable harnesses up to the trailer module (TRM) at the front edge of the left-had side of the cargo compartment.
- Connect the grey connector to the control module.
- Take the ground terminal from the kit and secure the ground lead to the ground terminal on the left-hand side at the rear member. Torque tighten the screw, tightening torque 10 Nm (7.5 lbf.ft.).
- Insert a piece of wire from the compartment to the fuse holder and out at the rear edge of the cargo floor support.
- Tape the remaining cable end and route it forwards in the compartment to the fuse holder.
- Make sure that the cable does not chafe against sharp edges.
- Secure the cable to the control module, the ground lead excess and the cable to the fuse holder, at the thick cable harness and cable duct. Use cable ties from the kit.
Illustrations A and B
- Squeeze the pliers together on the fuse holder catch on the module where the cable is to be pressed in, and pull up.
- Carefully pry between the front and rear section of the fuse holder using a weatherstrip tool so that the black front section moves backwards slightly.
- Connect the cable to the spare socket in the position marked F9 on the reverse of the upper module.
- Reinstall the catch in the rear section.
B
- Take a 15A fuse from the kit and install in position 9 in the module.
- Reinstall the cover.
Points 17-24 apply to vehicles manufactured after w0946. These vehicles only have one fuse holder/relay holder.
- Reinstall the panel for the fuse holder.
- Fold the insulation mat back over the control module.
- Press in the catches on the sides of the fuse holder and pull out.
- Fold the insulation mat on the left-hand side at the front of the cargo compartment to one side.
- Route the cable from the rubber lead-in and along the existing cable harnesses up to the trailer module (TRM) at the front edge of the left-had side of the cargo compartment.
- Connect the grey connector to the control module.
- Take the ground terminal from the kit and secure the ground lead to the ground terminal on the left-hand side at the rear member. Torque tighten the screw, tightening torque 10 Nm (7.5 lbf.ft.).

- Connect the cable to the spare socket in the position marked F4 on the rear of the module.
- Reinstall the catch in the rear section.
- Take a 15A fuse from the kit and install in position 4 in the module.
- Reinstall the panel for the fuse holder.
- Fold the insulation mat back over the control module.
Checking the 13-pin connector
Note! The trailer module (TRM) must be programmed with software in order to function correctly.
Position - Function
- 1 - Left indicator lamps
- 2 - Rear fog lamp
- 3 - Ground
- 4 - Right indicator lamps
- 5 Rear parking lamps, right
- 6 - Brake lamp
- 7 Rear parking lamps, left
- 8 - Reversing lamp
- 9 - Power supply +12V
- 10 - Charging +12V, only with the ignition switched on.
- 11 - Ground
- 12 - Not used
- 13 - Ground
