Control module
The integrated audio module (IAM) is mounted in the center console. It is integrated with the audio unit and they are replaced together.
The infotainment control module (ICM) display shows the current status of the integrated audio module (IAM).
The Integrated Audio Module (IAM) has an integrated amplifier (only Performance) with an output of 4x20 W.
For versions that do not have an integrated amplifier, the Audio module (AUD) is used as an amplifier.
Antennas
Integrated Audio Module (IAM) is connected to an antenna system for AM and FM. The antenna system consists of an AM-antenna and three FM-antennas (FM1, FM2, and FM3).
For S80, the antennas are located in the rear window. For V70 and XC70 the FM1-, FM2-, and AM-antennas are located in the left rear window, the FM3-antenna is located in the right rear window.
For the XC60 the AM and FM1 antennas are located in the liftgate spoiler, the FM2 antenna in the left rear window and the FM3 antenna in the right rear window.
The antennas are connected to an antenna booster. Antenna signals are sent from the antenna booster to Integrated Audio Module (IAM) via a coaxial cable.
The antenna booster is supplied with voltage from Integrated Audio Module (IAM).
Remote control
Remote control via the steering wheel keypad is available as either an option or standard depending on the market. The keypad is on the right side of the steering wheel and is connected to steering wheel switch right (SWSR).
Loudspeakers
The integrated audio module (IAM) for Performance has four speakers directly connected to the control module:
- one pair of front loudspeakers
- one pair of rear loudspeakers.
Each speaker has an element for the entire frequency range. A tweeter for the front and rear speakers is available in certain markets.
Impedance for each speaker is 4 ohms.
For versions without an amplifier, the loudspeakers are connected to the Audio module (AUD).
For more information, see Design and Function, Audio Module (AUD).
Microphone
Applies to -2009
Applies to 2010-
The microphone is directly connected to the Integrated Audio Module (IAM). The microphone transmits analog signals to the control module. The microphone has phantom-feed via Integrated Audio Module (IAM).
Telephone calls can be connected via the handsfree. The microphone and speaker are used for calls via the handsfree.
