Fault-Tracing Information

Fault-tracing

Checking the power supply

Note! The Steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS) is located in the lever module together with the steering wheel module (SWM) and is supplied with power by it.

- Ignition on.
- Read the voltage feed for the Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) and the Central Electronic Module (CEM).
The supply voltage values for the Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) and the Central Electronic Module should be approximately the same.
If the two voltages differ by more than 2.0 V then this would suggest that the fault is permanent.
If the voltage is approximately the same, this indicates an intermittent fault, i.e. the fault was present previously but is not active at the moment.

Checking the wiring and terminals
Check the connector. Check for contact resistance. Check for oxidation. Check for loose connections.
Check the cable for voltage feed (15i-feed) between fuse in relay/fuse box in luggage compartment and Steering wheel module (SWM) #A8 (#8) for contact resistance and oxidation.

Hint: With ignition the voltmeter should display the battery voltage.

Check the ground cable between ground connection and Steering wheel module (SWM) #A2 (#2) for contact resistance and oxidation.
Remedy as necessary.
