Checking the status
- Ignition on.
- Read out the status of the P position sensor.
Move the gear selector to gear position D. Then move the gear selector lever back to the P position. Status should indicate whether the gear selector is in the P position.
If the status changes, this is an indication that the fault was present previously but is not active at the moment, i.e. an intermittent fault.

Checking the component
- Ignition off.
- Release the gear selector.
Check that the control arm between the shiftlock solenoid and the gear selector module (GSM) is correct installed.
If no fault can be found, replace the gear selector module (GSM).

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.
- Ignition off.
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on.
- Read out the status of the P position sensor.
Move the gear selector to gear position D. Then move the gear selector lever back to the P position. Status should indicate whether the gear selector is in the P position.
