Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information TCM-P072200

Condition
The transmission's output speed sensor sends the transmission control module (TCM) a signal on the speed of the output drive shaft. Using this signal, the control module calculates the outgoing speed of the transmission. The signal is compared to the input speed signal from the transmission speed sensor and is used to calculation the transmission's gear ratio and for diagnostics.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:
- No output speed signal from the transmission speed sensor.
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- Speed higher than 70 km/h (44 mph) and transmission fluid temperature over 20 °C (68 °F).

Note! The control module can only detect the fault once the test has been started and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored when the conditions are met.

Substitute value
- Adaptation function is blocked.
- The lock-up function is blocked.
- Slip lock-up function is blocked.
- Neutral check function is blocked.
- The transmission control module (TCM) uses the speed signal that the brake control module (BCM) puts on the CAN network.
- If the speed signal from the brake control module (BCM) is also missing, the auxiliary program Emergency mode 1 in the transmission control module (TCM) will become active.

Hint: Emergency mode in the event of a fault Emergency Mode In Case Of Malfunction

Possible source
- Contact resistance in the terminals.
- Transmission output speed sensor not working.
- Internal fault in the transmission control module (TCM).

Fault symptom[s]
- Malfunction indicator light (MIL), on
- No lock-up
- Rough gear shift
- No gear shift
- Text window and warning symbol/Yellow symbol and text message
