Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information BCM-C004087

Condition
The stop lamp switch is located by the brake pedal. The switch is affected by the brake pedal's lever during braking. The Brake control module (BCM) receives brake light switch signals from the Engine control module (ECM) and from the Central electronic module (CEM) via the CAN network.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:
- Signal missing.
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- Speeds above 20 km/h for longer than 6 minutes.

Note! The control module can only detect the fault once the test has been started and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored when the conditions are met.

Substitute value
- None.

Possible source
- Locate the cause of the fault in the engine control module (ECM).
- Fault-trace the central electronic module (CEM).
- Open-circuit in the wiring.

Note! This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is not due to an internal hardware fault in the Brake control module (BCM) and must not be remedied by replacing the control module.

Fault symptom[s]
- None.
