AFFECTED VEHICLES:
DESCRIPTION:
When diagnosing a Dynamic Stability Traction Control (DSTC) and/or City Safety Service Required message, attention should be paid to metal debris around the encoder ring of the wheel speed sensors. The Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) in the table below may be set.
SERVICE:
1. Check if the sealing ring on the axle is the correct type.
2.
Note!
Do NOT use magnetic tools as this will destroy the encoder ring.
Check the encoder ring for dirt or metal debris and clean if necessary.
The red circles show pieces of metal debris on the encoder ring and arrow # 1 shows metal debris that is stuck to the sensor.
While checking for debris, check the sensor for damage.
If the sensor is damaged, replace the sensor.
3. Erase the DTCs and test drive the car. If the DTCs set again, replace the sensor.
Note!
The right front wheel speed sensor is unique for XC6O since it is also used by City Safety!
