DESCRIPTION:
A new generation of PAC (Parking Assistance Camera) ECU (Electronic control unit) for XC60 will be released in production starting 2009w20 (apx. May 10, 2009).
The firmware in the DiCE tool must be updated to be able to communicate with this new PAC.
The new firmware version for DiCE is 5.5.0 and will be included in the VIDA 2009C release.
Until that time, the update firmware will be attached as part of this RTJ in the TIE database for Volvo retailers. Independent repair shops with a VIDA subscription can access the firmware update file from the website.

TEMPORARY SOLUTION:
1 - Prepare the application ~DiCE Firmware Update~ with firmware version 5.5.0
2 - Update the firmware in the Dice to version 5.5.0
1. How to prepare the application "DiCE Firmware Update" with firmware version 5.5.0
1.1 Download the attachment DICEFtw55O.exe that is attached in TIE to a temporary location.
1.2 Double-click on the file DICEFtw55O.exe
1.3 Click on the Install button in order to install and prepare DiCE Firmware Update for firmware version 5.5.0
1.4 The popup window Installation was Successful! will be shown when the installation is complete.
1.5 Click OK, The DiCE upgrade application DiCE Firmware Update is now prepared with the latest firmware.
The size of the file DICEFtw55O.exe is 360 Kb
2. How to update the firmware in the Dice to version 5.5.0
Updating the internal software (also called firmware) in a DiCE unit is done via VIDA All-in-one. This assumes that the installation of USB driver for DiCE has been performed for the DiCE unit.
The DiCE unit shall be connected with a USB cable and 12 V feed. Ensure that the Firmware status LED is flashing green.
USB is a more secure way to transmit data than Bluetooth�. Secure transmission is important when updating software. The user interface for updating software is available in English only.
2.1 Connecting DiCE
Connect 12 V voltage supply via the 12 V DC (Part number 9513004).
Connect the DiCE unit via the USB cable to the computer
2.2 Choose DiCE unit in VIDA Click PERFORM COMPUTER SETTINGS in VIDA and then on the COMMUNICATION TOOL tab. Do not click on the three dots next to the dropdown box. (This will start communications tests.)
Click DiCE UPDATE. The Firmware Update window is opened
2.3 Updating the DiCE unit software
Ensure that the correct DiCE unit and software, DICE_5_5_Omot "are selected in the Firmware Update window.
Click UPDATE.
The update should not take more than a few minutes. If the DiCE unit already has the latest firmware, the dialogue box below is shown. Choose "No" to not load the firmware again or click "Yes" to reload the firmware.
2.4 Close the Firmware Update application tool by clicking CLOSE. If this fails, please restart the DiCE and retry. When the update is finished, the text "Device update OK" appears.
2.5 Close the PERFORM COMPUTER SETTINGS window by clicking OK.
