Method content
This method consists of:
- Seal drive shaft left-hand side, replacing
- Seal drive shaft right-hand side, replacing.
Seal drive shaft left-hand side, replacing
Removing the drive shaft
Due to the risk of the oil being exposed to dirt from a broken drive shaft seal, the oil in the gearbox must be changed. Drain the oil from the gearbox in accordance with: Transaxle oil Transaxle Oil Transaxle oil Transaxle Oil (M56), Transaxle oil Transaxle Oil Transaxle oil Transaxle Oil (M66) or Transaxle oil Transaxle Oil (AW55-50).
Removing drive shaft
Remove the drive shaft according to Driveshaft left Driveshaft Left.
Installing the drive shaft seal
Use a jimmy bar with a flat surface. Turn the flat surface towards the transmission housing.
Installing the drive shaft seal
Note! Wipe thoroughly before installing the new drive shaft seal.
Apply a small amount of grease to the sealing lip.
Use: 999 5541 PUNCH 999 5541 Punch and: 999 1801 STANDARD SHAFT 999 1801 Standard Shaft.
Place the side of the drift marked M56 against the drive shaft seal.
Installing the drive shaft in the transmission
Install the drive shaft according to Driveshaft left Driveshaft Left.
Filling of oil
Fill new oil in the gearbox according to Transaxle oil Transaxle Oil (M56/M66) or Transaxle oil Transaxle Oil (AW55-50).

Removing the drive shaft

Installing the drive shaft seal
