Movement sensor
INTRODUCTION
- NOTE! Read through the whole installation instruction before starting the work.
- The illustrations display the procedure in order of operation. The order of operation is repeated in the text
Movement sensor
Note! This accessory is connected to the electrical system of the car. It requires software unique to the car.
- Turn the ignition key to position 0.
Note! Wait at least five minutes before disconnecting the connectors or removing other electrical equipment.
- Carefully pry off the panel (1) from the headlining. Use a weatherstrip tool
The pre-routed connector is secured to the inside of the panel.
- Take the sensor with the green connector from the kit
- Release the connector from its position on the inside of the panel
- Press the movement sensor into place in the cover. Ensure that all the catches engage
- Connect the connector for the movement sensor
- Reinstall the cover and the movement sensor in the headlining
- Program the function using VCT2000 in VIDA.
Applies to the V50
- Remove the cargo compartment carpet.
Removing the sill trim panel from the tailgate:
- Pry off the four external clips at the front edge/bottom edge of the sill trim panel on the tailgate
- Pry up one of the corners of the sill trim panel so that the two clips at that end release. Use a weatherstrip tool
- Pull up the sill trim panel so the remaining six clips release. Remove the panel
- Detach the rubber strip where it covers the right-hand side panel in the boot opening.
Removing the rear headlining:
- Grasp the edges of the rear headlining. Pull downwards so that the nine clips release. Pry using a weatherstrip tool if necessary.
Note! Do not damage the panels.
- Disconnect the connector from the lighting. Put the headlining to one side.
- Fold the seat cushion and backrest on the right-hand side of the rear seat forward.
Removing the side cushion:
- Grasp the upper edge of the right-hand side cushion (A). Pull the side cushion back so that the clip on the reverse releases
- Slide the side cushion upwards.
Removing the panel at the front/top of the side panel:
- Remove the screw (B) at the rear edge of the panel at the front/top of the right-hand side panel
- Pull the panel upwards so that the four clips on the inside release.
- Pull off the rubber strip (A) at the rear of the opening for the right-hand rear door.
Removing the lower panel on the C-post:
- Carefully pry off the lower panel (B) on the C-post on the right-hand side. Carefully pry at the top edge. Use a plastic weatherstrip tool
- Pull the panel on the C-post so that the two upper clips release. Then continue pulling downwards until the last two clips release.
Removing the upper panel on the C-post:
- This is removed in the same way as the lower panel (C) on the C-post. However there are three clips which must release.
Removing the side panel:
- Fold out the load securing eyelets on the right-hand side panel
- Insert a scriber with an angled tip into the holes in the top of the covers (1). Turn the scriber so that the tip engages the reverse of the cover. Pull the cover off
- Remove the screws in the load securing eyelets
- Remove the screw (2) at the front/top edge of the side panel
- Pull off the side panel at the top so that the two clips at the rear/bottom of the side window and the clip at the bottom of the D-post release
- Lift out the side panel.
Removing the panel from the D-post:
- Carefully pry of the right-hand D-post panel at the bottom edge. Use a plastic weatherstrip tool
- Pull the D-post panel forwards so that the two clips at the bottom release. Then continue pulling forwards until the two higher clips release
- Unhook the D-post panel backwards from the headlining.
Note! Do not damage the panels.
- Pry up the cover on the mounting over the right-hand side window in the cargo compartment. Remove the screw underneath.
Removing the grab handle from the rear door:
- Hold down the grab handle over the right-hand rear door. Pry off the cover for the screws. Use a small screwdriver. Remove the screws
- Carefully pull off the handle (some force is required).
Note! Do not damage the headlining.
Lowering the headlining:
- Turn the clip in the centre of the headlining 90°. Remove the clip
- Remove the rubber strips at the top of the right-hand rear door
- Carefully lower the headlining.
Note! Care is required to prevent the headlining breaking in its mountings further forwards.
- Hang up the headlining at the rear edge if necessary.
Installing the sensor:

Note! Do not damage the roof panel or the hose for the tailgate washer.
- Take the sensor with the blue connector from the kit
- Disconnect the existing taped connector from the headlining
- Connect the connector to the sensor
- Remove the backing from the tape on the sensor
- Position the sensor within the four recesses in the headlining where the blue connector was. Ensure that the sensor is straight.
Note! To function correctly, the sensor must be within the corner markings and must not be twisted more than 5 degrees.
- Counterhold the underneath of the headlining. Press the sensor into place.
Reinstall:
- the clip in the centre of the headlining
- the screws in the mounting over the rear side window. Tighten to 50 Nm (37 lbf.ft.). Press the cover into place
- the grab handle over the rear door. Tighten the screws. Tighten to 8 ± 2 Nm (6 ± 1.5 lbf. ft.). Press the cover into place
- the side panel. Tighten. Tighten the screws for the load securing eyelets. Tighten to 24 Nm (18 lbf. ft.). Press the covers into place
- the C and D-post panels. Connect any connectors
- the rubber strip at the rear edge of the opening for the rear door
- the panel at the front/top of the side panel
- the side cushion.
- Fold the backrest and seat cushion back into place on the rear seat
- Connect the connector for the lighting in the rear headlining.
Reinstall:
- the rear headlining
- the sill trim panel for the boot lid
- the rubber strip in the boot lid opening
- the cargo compartment carpet (applies only to the V50).
- Program the function using VCT2000 in VIDA.
