Body - Door Windows Reverse When Closing

DESCRIPTION:
Customers may report that the auto-up windows go half way up and reverse down again when selected. This is due to high friction within the mechanism. The high friction can be caused by the window guide channel seal very dry and / or alignment of the door glass is incorrect.

If the door windows are reversing halfway up, the alignment of the door window needs to be verified and the door glass seals (guide channel) needs lubrication.
Remove the door panel
Remove the door panel, see VIDA:
- Removal, replacement and installation
- 8 Body and interior
- 85 Interior
- 851 upholstery for wall/door, side, rear
shelf, luggage rack
- upholstery for wall/door, side, rear shelf,
luggage rack
- Panel front (or rear) door
Reconnect the door panel switch block.
Check glass position
Raise / Lower the window to the half
open / closed position.
Open the two clamp bolt access covers.
Check the forward / rearward alignment of
the door glass - window lift mechanism
clamps.
The clamp bolt should be centered in the
access hole as shown here.

As necessary; reposition the clamp
If necessary reposition the glass clamp to
align with the access holes as shown
above.
1) Loosen the front and rear bolts of the
glass clamps.
2) Gently reposition the bolts with a
screwdriver.
3) Be sure the bolts are in the center
position.
Retighten the bolts to 7 ft-lb (10 Nm).
Lubricate the window guide channel
Apply Perfluorated oil (PN 1161840) into the
window guide channel as indicated here.
Also apply the Perfluorated oil into the lower
section of the guide channel (not shown).
Clean any excess oil from the window.
Verify the window closing / opening
operation.
