Gasket, inner timing cover

Removal

Remove the front crankshaft seal. Service and Repair

Rotate the engine to the zero position.

Remove the outer timing gear casing. Gasket, Outer Timing Cover








Raise the tensioner's retaining plate (1) slightly and press the tensioner (2) together. Lock in place with a steel wire, drill bit or the like that is - 2 mm in the tensioner hole (3).





Attach the following items:
- 999 7264 Counterhold 999 7264 Counterhold
- 999 7263 Counterhold 999 7263 Counterhold
- 999 7272 TORX 60 999 7272 Torx(R) 60









Installation








Torque: M7, 17 Nm




Slacken the screws two turns.








Torque: M6, 10 Nm




Torque: Center bolt, exhaust camshaft
Stage 1: 75 Nm
Stage 2: 90 degree

Torque: Center bolt, intake camshaft, 110 Nm

Detach the following items:
- 999 7263 Counterhold 999 7263 Counterhold
- 999 7264 Counterhold 999 7264 Counterhold
- 999 7272 TORX 60 999 7272 Torx(R) 60




- 999 7261 Position sensor 999 7261 Position Sensor




Turn the engine two rotations and check the setting.




Remove and discard the intermediate shaft seal.

Use the tool and 3 screws in the indicated spot to guide the cover and gasket into the right position. Do not tighten!




Torque: M7, 17 Nm




Tighten the screws in the order illustrated.
Torque: M7, 17 Nm




Screw in the adjuster screws until they make contact.
Torque: Inner timing cover, adjuster screw, 3 Nm




Torque: M8, 24 Nm




Torque: M6, 10 Nm

Torque: M7, 17 Nm

Torque: M8, 24 Nm

Install the following items:
- the drive wheel and a new seal. Intermediate Shaft Gasket, Auxiliaries Side
- auxiliaries brackets. Service and Repair




Torque: M7, 17 Nm

Install new seals. Service and Repair




Torque: M12, 80 Nm





Fill cooling system. Service and Repair
