NOTE!
THIS DOCUMENT SUPERSEDES THE PREVIOUS RETAILER TECHNICAL JOURNAL 21527 DATED 03-25-2010. All of the chassis ranges have been updated. This RTJ is now released with a service campaign. PLEASE UPDATE YOUR FILES.

DESCRIPTION:

Volvo Cars of North America, LLC. has decided to launch a service campaign on certain model year 2007 - 2010 S80, 2008 - 2010 V70 & XC70 and 2010 XC60 vehicles equipped with engine VIN code 98 & 99 SI6 engines.

Volvo has identified that the cylinder head coolant bleeder hose o-ring may start to leak, due to incorrect material used in the o-rings. If this condition occurs, the coolant level may drop and a Driver Information Module (DIM) message stating: LOW COOLANT LEVEL" may appear along with a red warning triangle.

The corrective action is to replace the coolant bleeder hose on all eligible vehicles per the instructions in the attachment to this
Retailer Technical Journal.

PLEASE NOTE:
This Service Campaign will be in effect until November 30, 2012 regardless of mileage. Coverage is automatically transferred to subsequent owners.

PRODUCT MODIFICATION:
After the chassis range in the header, the hoses have an improved o-ring. In order to differentiate between the old hose and the new hose, see the photos in the attachment. The new hose has a black connector.

SERVICE:
Replace the bleeder hose, PN 31319051, following the procedure in the attachment.
