Brakes - Electronic Park Brake Won't Release

DESCRIPTION:
Volvo has developed a service tool to release the handbrake if the Parking Brake Module is inoperative and can not be released by the switch inside the car.

Note! Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential information is always correct.

3. Releasing the parking brake

Instruction for S80 (07-) and XC60 (step 3
-4).
Release the control module for the brake system according to VIDA:
INFORMATION
Removal, replacement, and installation Brakes
Parking brake
Parking brake module

Disconnect the connector from the control module.





4. Use: Tool marked EPB-BOX PN 9513014.

Note! Do NOT hold the button for more than 2 seconds!

After releasing the parking brake:

1. Remove the tool.

2. Do not connect the connector to the control module.

Transport the vehicle to the nearest workshop in disassembled condition for permanent corrective action and finishing.





5. Releasing the parking brake Instruction for V70 (08-) and XC70 (08-), (step 5-6).

Remove the hatch from the left side panel in the luggage compartment. Disconnect the connector from the control module.

6. Use: Tool marked EPB-BOX PN 9513014.

Note! Do NOT hold the button for more than 2 seconds!

After releasing the parking brake:

1. Remove the tool.

2. Do not connect the connector to the control module.

Transport the vehicle to the nearest workshop in disassembled condition for permanent corrective action and finishing.

Note! The EPB will not be functional nor will Parking Assistance while driving with the Parking Brake Module (PBM) disconnected!

7. Reassemble in reverse order after repairs are made.
