INTRODUCTION
- NOTE! Read through the whole installation instruction before starting the work.
- The illustrations display the procedure in order of operation. The order of operation is repeated in the text section.

Note! On cars with a low level control module in the driver's door, this must be replaced. It is marked A in the kit and ordered separately.

Preparations




- Turn the ignition key to position 0.

Note! Wait at least three minutes before unplugging the connectors or removing other electrical equipment.








- Disconnect the existing connectors on the rear of the panel and place to one side.

- Carefully pry off the panel at the lower edge using a weatherstrip tool (it is secured by eight clips) and then unhook it at the upper edge.

- Detach the cable to the door handle.

- Disconnect the connectors to the door module. Place the panel to one side.




- Disconnect the connectors.
- Remove the screws and mirror.




- Carefully pry off the mirror glass.




- Carefully disconnect the two cables from the mirror glass. The glass will be reused.




- Press out the mirror cover using a small screwdriver. The cover will be reused.




- Carefully remove the indicator lamp from the mirror housing. It is secured by surrounding catches.




- Remove the socket with the bulb from the indicator lamp. The indicator lamp will be reused.




- Remove the screw holding the mirror motor.




- Detach the motor by carefully prying up the catches at the side and underneath using a small screwdriver.
- Unhook the motor from the remaining catches and disconnect the connector. The motor will be reused.

Installation




Certain car models do not have the lighting function. On these models, install lamp and lens.
- Take a new mirror housing, bulb and lamp lens for ground lighting from the kit.
- Remove the cable with the lamp holder from the mirror.
- Insert a bulb into the holder.




- Install the socket with the bulb in the lamp lens.




- Install the ground lighting in the mirror housing.




- Press the socket with bulb in the indicator lamp.




- Reinstall the indicator lamp in the mirror housing.




- Connect the connector and install the mirror motor in the mirror housing. Ensure that all catches engage.




- Install the screw to the mirror motor and tighten.

- Press the old cover into the mirror housing. Press all the way around so that all catches engage.




- Connect the wiring to the old mirror glass.
- Ensure that the white damper blades align in their grooves.
- Press the mirror glass into place.

Steps 24-28 apply to cars without high level control module.




- Disconnect the connectors in the control module in the door console on the driver's door.




- Move the cable harness to one side and drill out the three pop rivets using a -6.5 mm ( 1/ 4") drill bit. Do not damage the cable harness.
- Remove any swarf and rivet residue.

Two of the rivets (1) end up at the bottom on the door, the last rivet (2) ends up inside the console. To prevent rivet remains from rattling inside the door, carry out the following:

- Spray thin rustproofing agent through the drain holes at the bottom of the door to keep the rivet remains in place. Use low viscosity rustproofing agent and apply with tool 9814075. Ensure to coat the entire door bottom.

- Locate the rivet remains, normally found opposite the hole.

- Insert silicone from Volvo's chemical range into the hole. Ensure that the rivet is coated with it.




- Take the control module and three rivets from the kit. Rivet the control module into the console.





Applies to all models




- Install the new mirror and tighten.
- Connect the connectors.

- Check that the clips around the panel are intact and correctly positioned, they are detachable.
- Connect the connectors to the door module.

- Connect the cable to the opening handle.

- Align the clips carefully in the holes in the door frame and press securely.
- Tighten the panel using the two screws, tightening torque 5 Nm (4 ft.lb.).

















- Repeat all steps on the other side.




- Download the software for the accessory's function.
- Initiate the power windows.
