Checking opening of tailgate

Checking the sensor




Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) checks the voltage to the switch for the tailgate's external handle.
Check status for the external handle by clicking on the symbol for VCT2000. Status shall show pressed in when you press in the handle, and released when you do not press the handle.
If status shows pressed in even if there is no evident action, check the external handle with regards to the sensor having been displaced.

Check the leads between Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) and the external handle. Also investigate the connector in Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) and the connector in the external handle with regards to loose connection and oxidation.
If the leads are intact, replace external handle.
Remedy as necessary.

Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) checks status for motor close and time when closing of tailgate is in progress with sensor, first lock position, and sensor, completely closed. Sensor, first lock position, shall be active when the lock is in first or second lock position, and not active if the lock is open. Sensor, completely closed, shall only be active when the lock is completely closed, and not active if the lock is open or in first lock position.
Check sensor, first lock position, and sensor, completely closed, by:
- Click on the symbol for VCT2000 and read out status for sensors.
- Close the tailgate with the button on the tailgate's lower edge.
- Check that sensors changes status at the end of closing.
If status does not change for the sensors, the lock mechanism shall be replaced.

One opening of the tailgate, using Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT), does not take longer than 12 seconds with a fully functional hydraulic pump. For the pump to work correctly it needs a voltage above 10 V.
Check the voltage by clicking on the symbol for VCT2000 and read out the value of the battery. If the battery is poor, replace it.
Remedy as necessary.

Check how long time it takes to open the tailgate by clicking on the symbol for VCT2000 and follow the instructions.
If opening of the tailgate takes longer than 12 seconds, then replace Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) and its hydraulic parts.

When the button to open the tailgate is pressed in for at least 1.5 seconds, either on Light switch module (LSM) on the instrument panel or the remote key, the tailgate shall open to fully open position. A brief press of the button unlocks the lock.
The tailgate's opening function is handled by control modules Central electronic module (CEM), Keyless Vehicle Module (KVM), and Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT).

Note! Keyless Vehicle Module (KVM) and Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) are options and are not installed in all vehicles.

Check the buttons' status to open the tailgate by clicking on the symbol for VCT2000.
Status shall show pressed/not pressed for the button on the instrument panel, and for the remote key status shall show which button was pressed last. If the status does not follow the real button pushes, check if there are other trouble codes set for each control module.

Hint: After carrying out the repair check that the fault has been remedied.

- Ignition off.
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on.
- Check the function by opening and closing the tailgate using the different button combinations.
