Checking power supply, rear seat entertainment module (RSE)
Fault-tracing information
The rear seat entertainment module (RSE) is supplied power from two different circuits. The following can occur if there is no power supply:
- Lighting in the DVD-player's buttons is not activated at all with ignition on.
- Lighting in all of the DVD-player's buttons is activated and then goes off, after approx. 5-10 seconds, when the system is turned on with the power switch on the DVD-player.
Causes of the problem may be:
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the terminals.
- Damaged fuse.
- Open circuit or short-circuiting of leads for voltage feeds and ground.
Hint: Power supply (15 feed) is common with power supply to rear 12 V socket.

Checking the power supply and ground
- Ignition on.
- Turn on the system with the main switch on the DVD-player. Lighting in the DVD-player's buttons is activated.
If lighting in all of the DVD-player's buttons is activated, and then goes off after approx. 5-10 seconds, this indicates lost 15-feed to rear seat entertainment module (RSE)/DVD-player. Fault-trace according to the following options.
Check the lead for voltage feed (15-feed) to rear seat entertainment module (RSE)/DVD-player's #A6 and #A7 for short-circuiting to voltage, short-circuiting to ground and open circuit.
Hint: Power supply (15 feed) is common with power supply to rear 12 V socket.
Hint: When this feed is lost, the system will only work for another approx. 10 minutes. The system cannot be restarted until the power supply is OK.
Note! If no cable or fuse defects are found and there still is no power supply, the problem probably lies in the vehicle electrical system.
If lighting in the buttons does not come on at all, this indicates malfunction of the voltage feed or ground for the rear seat entertainment module (RSE)/DVD-player.
Check the lead for voltage feed to rear seat entertainment module (RSE)/DVD-player's #A4, #A6 and #A7 for short-circuiting to voltage, short-circuiting to ground and open circuit. The voltage should be approx. the same as the battery voltage.
Check the connector for rear seat entertainment module (RSE)/DVD-player contact resistance and oxidation.
Check the lead for ground connection to rear seat entertainment module (RSE), connector #A8, for open circuit and short-circuit to voltage. Also check the ground terminal. Check for contact resistance and oxidation.
Hint: Power supply (15 feed) is common with power supply to rear 12 V socket.

Verification
Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.
- Ignition off.
- Restore components and connectors.
- Switch on the ignition. Lighting in the DVD-player's buttons is activated. If the TV receiver is installed, the receiver's LED lights up.
- When start-up is performed the lighting in the DVD-player's buttons goes off, does not apply to POWER-button. If the TV receiver is installed, the receiver's LED goes out.
Note! A long start-up time indicates a fault in communication with the screens. For further information, see VIDA Design and function.
- Start the system using the POWER button on the DVD player or the remote control. Use the buttons, on both DVD-player and remote control, to operate the system.
Check that:
- The screens show a picture.
- DVD-disc can be played.
- Sound is heard in wireless headphones.
- Sound can be heard in the vehicle's speakers.
- Menus can be accessed with the remote control in both screens.
- TV picture appears (if TV receiver is installed) and it is possible to change channels.
- If possible, connect an external source to the AV input and test the function.
