USB and iPod® Music interface

























INTRODUCTION
- NOTE! Read through the whole installation instruction before starting the work.
- The illustrations display the procedure in order of operation. The order of operation is repeated in the text section.

Note! The cable (B) for the USB and iPod adapter may differ in appearance depending on which music player is to be connected.

Preparations




- Turn the ignition key to position 0.
- Disconnect the battery negative lead.

Note! Wait at least three minutes before unplugging the connectors or removing other electrical equipment.




- Remove the tunnel console's left and right-hand side panels by carefully pulling them away starting at the rear edge. These are secured with six clips on the inside.

Applies to right-hand drive cars
- Remove the left-hand panel.





Applies to right-hand drive cars
- Remove the sound barrier.




- Fold aside the floor mat on the left side of the center console.




- Disconnect the two connectors on the left-hand side of the gear selector assembly. Leave the male connectors in place.




- Take cable harness (A) from the kit. Connect the fiber-optic cable's connectors between those disconnected from the car's cable harness.

Note! Fiber-optic cables may not be bent with a radius less than 25 mm (1").




- Connect the two other connectors between the large connectors that were disconnected.





Applies to left-hand drive cars
- Insert the long fiber-optic cable (1) in front of the air duct and across the center console.
- Position the large loose connectors (2) and the excess of the fiber-optic cables (3) as illustrated.

Note! Fiber-optic cables may not be bent with a radius less than 25 mm (1").

- Fold back the carpet.





Applies to right-hand drive cars
- Position the large loose connectors (1) and the excess of the fiber-optic cables (2) as illustrated.
Route the long fiber-optic cable (3) forwards in the car.

Note! Fiber-optic cables may not be bent with a radius less than 25 mm (1").

- Fold back the carpet.




- Remove the rubber mat in the bottom of the storage compartment by pulling it up at the front edge.




- Loosen the tunnel console at the trailing edge by removing the four screws in the bottom of the storage compartment.




- Remove the panel under the ashtray by carefully pulling it loose starting at the bottom edge.

Installation

Applies to left-hand drive cars




- Take the cable harness (B) from the kit. Insert the end with the straight connector from the front edge of the tunnel console's right-hand side inside the carpet and back along the inside of the tunnel console.

Applies to right-hand drive cars




- Take the USB/iPod cable from the kit. Insert the end with the straight connector from the front edge of the tunnel console's left-hand side inside the carpet and back along the inside of the tunnel console.

Note! The cable harness (B) for the USB and iPod adapter may differ in appearance depending on which music player is to be connected.




- Lift up the tunnel console at the trailing edge and pull up the connector from the hole in the trailing edge of the storage compartment.




- Route the cable out from the storage compartment. Measure the length of the cable that is to protrude from the bottom of the storage compartment. Ensure that the cable does not chafe against sharp edges or become trapped when the removed components are reinstalled.




- Clamp the cable by the left bracket on the tunnel console with a cable tie when the cable length has been measured.
- Reinstall the center console in its position.




- Take the adapter from the kit and bend the mounting in at each end.




- Take two pieces of foam tape from the kit.
- Remove the protective tape from the foam tape.

- Press the foam tape pieces as illustrated.





Applies to left-hand drive cars
- Connect the USB/iPod connector and the fiber-optic cable's connector to the adapter.
- Clamp the USB/iPod cable at the eyelet on the adapter using a tie-strap.
- Fold the carpet to one side.





Applies to left-hand drive cars
- Place the adapter high up on the cowl panel and against the right-hand side of the center console.
- Fold back the carpet.

Note! Do not damage the fibre optic cable.

- Reinstall the side panels and passenger compartment connector if applicable.
- Tighten down the tunnel console with the six screws. Make sure that the cable from the USB/iPod adapter does not get caught in the rear bracket when the screws are tightened.
- Reinstall the panel at the lower edge/trailing edge on the tunnel console.





Applies to right-hand drive cars
- Connect the USB and iPod connector and the fiber-optic cable's connector to the control module.
- Clamp the USB/iPod cable at the eyelet on the control module using a cable tie.





Applies to right-hand drive cars
- Fold the carpet to one side.





Applies to right-hand drive cars
- Place the control module against the firewall under the cable harness. Secure the control module using a cable tie in the cable harness for the fuse box.





Applies to right-hand drive cars
- Route the fiber-optic cable in a loop in front of the climate control unit.

- Drill holes in the trailing edge on the storage compartment's mat with a -6 mm (1/4") drill bit for the cable to the USB/iPod adapter.
- Cut the mat to the edge of the hole.
- Clean out the hole so that the cable has room.
- Reinstall the rubber mat in the bottom of the storage compartment.




- Reconnect the battery negative lead.
- Download the software for the accessory's function.
