Checking antenna cable
Identifying symptoms
Note! Carry out the following checks in an area known to have good coverage.
- Ignition on.
- A telephone call should be connected
- Half audio volume.
- If audio is cut off and/or disappears (poor reception/coverage), compare with another vehicle under the same conditions.
Is there a difference in sound reproduction/reception between the vehicles?
Yes - Checking the component and wiring
No - Troubleshooting procedure complete

Checking the component and wiring
- Ignition off.
- Unplug connector C1 for the phone module (PHM).
- Unplug connector C2 for the phone module (PHM).
Check the cable for the carphone antenna. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Check between:
- Connector # C1-5 (#5) and connector C#2-1.
- Connector #C1-5 (#5) and connector C#2-2.
Check the cable for short-circuit to ground.
Check between:
- Connector #C1-6 (#6) and connector #C2-1.
- Connector #C1-6 (#6) and connector #C2-2.
Check the cable for the carphone antenna. Check for an open-circuit.
Measure the antenna cable's connector between #1 and #2. Resistance for a functioning antenna shall be approx. 10 k ohms.
Check the connectors for loose connections, damaged or bent terminal pins and oxidation.
Try replacing the carphone antenna if the cables are OK.
Remedy as necessary.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.
- Ignition off.
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on.
- Activate the carphone.
Make a call so that both the handset and the hands-free system are used. See the instruction manual.
