Alarm, basic kit
INTRODUCTION
- NOTE! Read through the whole installation instruction before starting the work.
- The illustrations display the procedure in order of operation. The order of operation is repeated in the text section.
Alarm, basic kit
Note! This accessory is connected to the car's electrical system. It requires software unique to the car.
- Turn the ignition switch to position 0.
- Carefully bend loose the diode/sensor in the instrument panel.
- Loosen the connector in the diode and lay it aside. New diode is included in the kit.
- Get the new diode from the kit, connect it to the connector and install it by pressing it in the instrument panel.
- Remove the wiper arms.
- Detach the cover mouldings at the front edge of the panel over the wiper shafts.
- Remove the front part of the battery box cover.
- Remove the rear part of the battery box cover.
- Remove the clips of the wiper shaft panel and remove the panel.
Steps 10-17 apply to left-hand drive cars
- Loosen the relay box from its holder to access the siren's attachment bracket in front of the air inlet to the climate unit.
- Pull apart and loosen the connectors for the climate unit's water pump.
- Pull up the ECM control module from its bracket and lay it to the side.
- Remove the two M6 nuts and remove the ECM control module's bracket.
- Remove the two plastic nuts and loosen the bigger bracket.
- Remove the connector for the headlights' control module, located in the bracket's lower edge on the right side, and remove the bracket with control module.
- Take the siren and the bracket, and insert the right stud bolt in the holder's right hole and hook on the left.
- Take the siren's protective casing and nuts from the kit.
- Fit the casing's right side on the siren's right stud bolt and hook on the casing on the other. Install the nuts and make sure that the siren with casing is installed correctly in the holder.
- Tighten the nuts with 8 Nm ± 2 (5.9 ft.lb. ± 1.5).
- Plug in the connector for the headlights' control module.
- Reinstall bracket with siren and casing, and tighten it down with the two plastic nuts.
- Reinstall the bracket for the ECM control module and tighten it down with the two nuts. Torque with 10 Nm (7.5 ft.lb.).
- Connect the pre-wired 3-pin black connector to the siren.
- Reinstall the relay box in its holder.
- Reinstall the ECM control module in its bracket.
- Connect and reinstall the connectors for the climate unit's water pump.
Steps 18-23 apply to right-hand drive cars
- Remove the relay box from its holder.
- Take the siren and insert the right stud bolt in the holder's right hole and hook on the left stud bolt in the attachment bracket in front of the air inlet for the climate unit.
- Take the siren's protective cover from the kit.
- First fit the casing's right side on the siren's right stud bolt and then hook on the casing on the left.
- Install the nuts and make sure that the siren with casing is located correctly in the holder.
- Tighten the nuts with 8 Nm ± 2 (5.9 ft.lb. ± 1.5).
- Connect the pre-wired 3-pin black connector to the siren.
- Reinstall the relay box in its holder.
- Reinstall the panel over the wiper shafts with the existing clips.
- Reinstall the rear part of the battery box cover.
- Reinstall the front part of the battery box cover.
- Reinstall the cover mouldings at the front edge of the panel over the wiper shafts.
- Reinstall the wiper arms with nuts and cover,and torque the nuts with 30 ± 3 Nm (22 ± 2 ft.lb.).
- Remove the five screws in the leading edge of the wheel housing on both sides.
- Remove the three plastic clips in the lower edge of the bumper casing.
- Remove the seven clips in the upper edge of the bumper casing.
Hint: Get help from a colleague when doing this work.
- Fold out the bumper casing's ends on both sides, they are installed with two clips to the front fender and three under the headlight.
- Pull loose the bumper casing forward in one piece.
- Loosen the connector and delivery line to the high-pressure washer (figure B). Use a container to collect the washer fluid from the disconnected hose.
- If the vehicle is equipped with fog lights or parking assistance, loosen the connectors for these.
Note! The hood lock on the car's right side shall be replaced with a new from the kit for both right-hand and left-hand drive cars. Marking is sound on both sides of the hood lock for right-hand and left-hand drive cars. Marking for car model in question shall be turned to face outward.
- Remove the screws in the hood lock and fold it forward.
- Turn down the hood lock and loosen the wire.
- Lay aside the hood lock, new hood lock is included in the kit.
Illustrations A and B
- Take the new hood lock from the kit. On cars with eight cylinder engine, the front engine casing may have to be loosened to find the pre-wired connector and to access the hood lock's connector.
- Insert the lead with the connector between the soft panel and the headlight's bracket, and pull it in to the trailing edge of the headlight bracket. Route the lead in all the way to the holes for the connector's attachment. The panel must be bent slightly to get through the connector. Carefully press through the connector with a small screwdriver.
Note! take care of the two leads.
- Install the wire in the hood lock.
- Bolt on the hood lock loosely with existing screws.
- Align the hood lock sideways using the hood's lock brace.
- Torque the nuts for the hood lock with 10 Nm (7.5 ft.lb.).
- Route the lead from the hood lock and plug in the connector to the pre-wired black, 2-pin connector on the coarse cable harness behind the headlight's placement.
- Press the connectors with holders into the holes in the plate against the headlight.
Hint: Get help from a colleague when doing this work.
- Plug in the connector and delivery line to the high-pressure washer.
- If the vehicle is equipped with fog lights or parking assistance, plug in the connectors for these.
- Reinstall the bumper casing and make sure that all catches engage (figure B).
- Press the existing seven clips into place in the bumper casing's upper edge.
- Tighten the bumper casing to the inner fenders with existing screws on both sides.
- Press the existing three clips into place in the bumper casing's lower edge.
- Program the software in accordance with the service information in VIDA.
