Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information SAS-U30001D
Condition
The Steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS) is located in the lever module together with the steering wheel module (SWM) and is supplied with power by it. Only the steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS) communicates on the controller area network (CAN).
The steering wheel angle sensor is installed on the underside of the contact reel and together they create a replaceable unit. A code wheel is mounted inside the steering wheel angle sensor which follows the movements of the steering wheel. 16 optical digital sensors read off the code wheel. These signals are compared and must create a specific pattern.
A diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects:
- The Steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS) registers that the current through one of the digital sensors is too high or low.
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- Ignition switch position II.
Substitute value
- The control module transmits a message to other nodes on the CAN network that its information is incorrect.
Possible source
- Damaged steering wheel angle sensor.
Fault symptom[s]
- Information lamp is on
- Anti-spin warning lamp lit
- Traction control not working
- Stability function is not working
- Four-C function not working
