Condition
Trailer module (TRM) checks the output signal for back-up (reverse) lights.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:
- Direct current (DC) is too high.
- Incorrect value runs longer than 2.5 seconds.
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code only starts when the control module is active and there is no trailer connector connected to the outlet.
Note! The control module can only detect the fault once the test has been started and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored when the conditions are met.

Possible source
- Dirt in the outlet for the trailer connector.
- Short-circuit to supply voltage in the cable.
- Short-circuit in connections.
