Checking the sensor
Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) checks the signal from sensor, fully closed. This sensor shall only be active when the lock is completely closed and not active if the lock is open or in the first lock position.
Check sensor, completely closed, by:
- Ignition on.
- Click on the symbol for VCT2000 and read out status for sensor, completely closed.
- Close the tailgate with the button on the tailgate's lower edge.
- Check that sensor, completely closed, changes status at the end of closing.

Checking the wiring and component
Check the cable harness between Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) and the lock mechanism. Also investigate the connector in Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) and the connector in the lock mechanism with regards to loose connection and oxidation.
If the leads are intact, replace lock mechanism.
Remedy as necessary.

Hint: After carrying out the repair check that the fault has been remedied.
- Ignition off.
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on.
- Check the function by opening and closing the tailgate using the different button combinations.
- Read off the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) by clicking on the VCT2000 symbol.
- Check that the diagnostic trouble code has disappeared or changed status to intermittent. Then the problem has been solved.
