- Fold aside the carpet and the insulation panel underneath. Uncover the right-hand side of the tunnel console's front section and the hole for the cowl panel rubber grommet.

- Undo the front screw in the mounting for the centre console.
- Take the bracket for the passenger compartment connector socket from the kit. Tighten it in with the previously removed screw.
- Position it so that it is straight and torque tighten the screw to 24 Nm (18 lbf.ft.).

- Fold the carpet back toward the bracket.
- Take a scriber and pierce a hole in the carpet opposite the two holes in the bracket.

- Take the passenger compartment connector socket, a locking sleeve and two screws from the kit. Install the passenger compartment connector socket to the console.

- Press in the locking sleeve on the passenger compartment connector socket. Slide the locking sleeve as far along the connection for the passenger compartment connector socket as possible.
- Take a carpet knife and cut a slit in the carpet just in front of the locking sleeve. Make the cut as long as the diameter of the locking sleeve.

NOTE: Do not damage any wiring and hoses under the carpet.

- Remove the passenger compartment connector socket from the bracket and fold the carpet to one side.

- Remove the four screws in the strut under the exhaust manifold and remove the strut.

- Unscrew the screws and remove the engine splash guard.

- Remove the rubber seal in the cowl panel. It shall not be used again.

- Cut off the tie strap above the cable joint to the cable from the front engine block heater socket at the left-hand front corner of the subframe. Remove the tie strap from the subframe.

- Remove the locking sleeve over the cable splice and separate the cables.

- Take the junction connector and joint cable for the passenger compartment connector socket from the kit.
- Grease in the O-rings on:
- the connector to the front engine block heater socket
- both connectors on the junction connector
- the connector to the joint cable for the passenger compartment connector socket
- Use low temperature grease (P/N 1161427).

NOTE: Do not get any grease on the surfaces of the connector.

- Take locking sleeves, screw, nut and washer from the kit.
- Connect the cables in accordance with the following:
- Cable (1) from the engine block heater.
- Cable (2) joint cable to the passenger compartment connector socket.
- Cable (3) from the front engine block heater socket.
- Press the cables firmly into the junction connector and press the locking sleeves in over the cable splices.

- Tighten the junction connector into the subframe in the existing hole with screw, washer and nut. The washer must be located between the junction connector and the subframe.

- Route the cable for the passenger compartment connector socket along the existing cable to the engine block heater.
- Clamp the cable opposite the existing clamps using three black tie straps from the kit.
- Route the cable on the rear of the power steering by the pipes that lead to it. Route it along the whole power steering to the right and let it hang down.

Illustrations A and B

- Take two double clamps and one grey tie strap from the kit and clamp the cable into the passenger compartment connector socket along the return pipe to the power steering and the antiroll bar. Adjust the cable in the clamps up to the tie strap in the anti-roll bar so that it is routed correctly and is not at risk from chafing or coming into contact with moving parts in the engine compartment. All excess is inserted into the passenger compartment.

NOTE: Do not clamp the cable directly to brake pipes, fuel lines, AC pipes or pipes to the power steering.

- Take the radiation shield from the kit and thread it on the cable.

- Take the rubber grommet and cut away the very top on the largest rubber teat.

- Grease in the rubber grommet using low temperature grease P/N 1161427 in order to make it easier to install the rubber grommet in the hole in the cowl panel.

NOTE: Do not get any grease on the surfaces of the connector.

- Thread the rubber grommet onto the cable.
- Adapt the length of the cable along the antiroll bar and to the location for the rubber grommet in the hole in the cowl panel.
- Pull the radiation shield up to the rubber grommet.

- Take two grey tie straps from the kit and secure the radiation shield onto the cable at the top end to the rubber grommet, and at the bottom end around the anti-roll bar.
