Checking components and wiring
- Ignition off.
Check the connector and terminals for the mass air flow (MAF) sensor. Check for contact resistance. Check for oxidation. Check the intake system for air leakage.
Remedy as necessary.

Checking the mass air flow (MAF) sensor
- Engine running.
Check and compare the calculated air mass with the actual, read-out from mass air flow sensor.
Try measuring at different speeds (rpm).
Hint: Differences of more than 20 % between the signals indicate a defective mass air flow sensor.
Note! When replacing mass air flow sensor. Repeat the check to verify that the replacement solved the problem.
Remedy as necessary.

Verification
Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.
- Ignition off.
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Start the engine and run it to normal operating temperature.
Click on the VCT2000 symbol. Check and compare the calculated air mass with the actual, read-out from mass air flow sensor.
Is the function OK?
Yes - Troubleshooting complete for this DTC.
