Condition




The engine control module (ECM) measures the air mass through the intake manifold using a sensor.
The diagnostic trouble code is generated if the control module detects that the sensor value deviates too much from the value calculated based on a model.
The diagnostic trouble code can be diagnosed at warm engine, an engine rpm of approx. 1000 rpm and a throttle angle of approx. 10-12 %.

Substitute value
- A value calculated from, among others, engine rpm, throttle angle, VVT-position as well as air pressure in the inlet pipe is used.

Possible source
- Contact resistance in connector.
- Damaged fresh air hose.
- Damaged mass air flow sensor.

Fault symptom[s]
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit.
