- Remove the upper floor supports from the car (if applicable).

- Unscrew the two external clips at the front edge/bottom edge of the sill trim panel on the tailgate.
- Pry up one of the corners of the sill trim panel using a weatherstrip tool so that the two clips at that end release.
- Pull up the sill trim panel at the other end so that the remaining two clips release. Remove the sill trim panel.

- Remove the three clips that hold the right-hand side panel in the bodywork.
- Unhook the side panel from the mounting on the underneath of the parcel shelf.
- Unhook the side panel from the rear load securing eyelet. Lift out the side panel.

- Remove the four screws for the bumper. The screws are underneath the bumper and on the sides at the bottom of the tailgate opening.

- Remove the five screws (1) holding the bumper cover at the rear edge of the wing liner in the rear wheel arch. Repeat on the other side.

- Remove the end of the bumper cover. Grasp the bumper cover inside the wing liner. Pull carefully until the six catches at the top edge release. Repeat on the other side.

- Remove the bumper cover by pulling it straight backwards.

Note! It is recommended that two people lift down the bumper cover.

- Place the bumper cover on an underlay which will not damage the paint.

- Pre-drill holes in the middle of the drill markings on the inside of the bumper cover.

- Use hole tool part no. 9997346 to make holes in the bumper cover. Check that the markings (1) are opposite each other when using the tool.

- Make four holes in the bumper cover using the hole tool. Place the cutting part of the tool on the outside of the bumper cover.
- Screw the hole tool together until it has cut the hole in the bumper cover.
- Remove the plastic pieces from the hole tool and make the remaining holes in the same way.

- Wash out the bumper cover. Use a mild soap solution.
- Clean around the holes and markings using isopropanol and allow to dry.
- Apply a thin and even coat of activator to the cleaned surfaces. Allow to dry for approximately 10 minutes.

- Check which holders are to be placed where before installing. Each holder is marked and has its own specific place. The holders must be positioned as illustrated.
1. 1 Right outer
2. 2 Right inner
3. 3 Left inner
4. 4 Left outer

- Install the sensors in their holders.

- Clean the surfaces of the holders using isopropanol as illustrated.
- Allow to dry.
- Apply a thin and even coat of activator to the cleaned surfaces and allow to dry for at least 10 minutes.

- Remove the protective backing film from one side of the tape.
- Apply the tape (1) on the sensor holder.
- Remove the protective film from the piece of tape on the sensor holder.
- Carry out the procedure above for the three remaining sensor holders.

Note! The tape adheres immediately.

- Apply a thin and even layer of adhesive (1) to the holders. Use glue gun part no. 9512950. The adhesive must be slightly above the level of the tape.

Note! The adhesive must not come into contact with the tape. The task of the tape is to secure the holders to the bumper cover until the adhesive has cured after approximately 24 hours.

- Install the sensor holders (1) horizontal with the bumper cover as illustrated and secure them.

- Connect the cable harness connectors to the sensors. A click should be heard on connection. The noise confirms that the catch has engaged. Take care when installing so that the holder does not come loose from the tape.

Note! The large gray connector must protrude from the right-hand side of the bumper cover.

- Secure the cable harness with butyl tape as illustrated.

Steps 44-57 apply to both the S40 and V50

- Remove the rubber grommet from the hole in the car, it shall not be re-used.

Applies to cars with the Keyless system
- Disconnect the cable (1) at both ends and remove it. It will no longer be used. The cable is internally connected to a gray connector below the right tail lamp.

- Take the cable harness with rubber grommet from the kit. The cable harness has a taped rubber grommet with integrated cable for the keyless system.
- Pull in the end with four connectors through the hole in the car and fit the rubber grommet.
- Fit the connector (1) for the sensors in the designated location below the tail lamp. Make sure that the clip engages properly.

- Fit the cable with the clips (2).

Applies to cars with the Keyless system
- Plug the connector into the antenna (1).

Applies to others
- Secure the connector using a cable tie so that it does not rattle.

Applies to cars with a tow hitch
- Detach the towbar wiring connector from the Trailer Module (TRM).
- Detach all cables from the connector and pull the cables out through the rubber grommet. The number of cables may vary depending on the towbar wiring used.
- Remove the rubber grommet. It will not be used again.

- Cut off the top of the large rubber nipple on the new grommet and route the cable harness for the tow hitch through.

Hint: Lubricate the cable harness with something that will not damage the rubber grommet and route the cable harness through the hole.

Applies to 13-pin towbar wiring
- Refit the ends of the cables in the connector in as follows:

- The blue cable is connected to positions 2, 6 or 8, depending on which function is required:
1. 2 = Charging
2. 6 = Reversing lamp
3. 8 = Fog lamps
- Press the connector's catch into place and connect it to the trailer module (TRM).

Applies to 13-pin towbar wiring
- Refit the ends of the cables in the connector in as follows:

- Press the connector's catch into place and connect it to the trailer module (TRM).

Applies to 4-pin towbar wiring
- Refit the ends of the cables in the connector in as follows:

- Press the connector's catch into place and connect it to the trailer module (TRM).

Installation of the bumper cover

Connecting the parking assistance module (PAM)

Connect:
- black connector to the control module's upper port.
- brown connector to the control module's lower port.
- green connector to the car's CAN cable, which has a green connector clamped in the front edge of the large hole in the side of the body.

Applies to cars with towbar and/or Accessory Electronic Module (AEM)
- The existing green connector is connected to the trailer module (TRM) / accessories electronic module (AEM). Disconnect the control module connector and connect it to the PAM cable's female connector.

Note! It is important that the parking assistance module (PAM) is connected the same way as the first unit.

- Detach the green male contact (1) which is taped at the rubber grommet and connect it to the Trailer Module (TRM) / Accessory Electronic Module (AEM).

Note! Take care to connect the cable harness correctly, and not in a loop.

Applies to cars with the Keyless system
- Plug the gray connector into the corresponding gray connector.

Note! Ensure that all the connectors click into place and are properly secured.
