DESCRIPTION:

There may be a bearing noise from the Rear End Auxiliary Drive (READ) gear housing that is most noticeable around 1500 - 1800 rpm in neutral gear. This may be due to a faulty carrier bearing for the intermediate gear (idler shaft gear).

SERVICE:

Verify that the noise is actually coming from the gear housing using a stethoscope or the Chassis Ear toolkit. Replace the idler shaft gear set following the replacement procedure in VIDA.
