Tailgate






Tailgate

Removal

Removing the tailgate





Remove:
- the panel. See: Tailgate/trunk lid panel Tailgate/Trunk Lid Panel
- the stop lamp
- the wiper motor.
- the lock mechanism. See Trunk lid/tailgate lock mechanism Service and Repair
- the handle.
Disconnect the connector from underneath when the handle has been removed.

Remove:
- the cable harness
- washer nozzle
- the rear windshield. See: Rear window tailgate Service and Repair
- the gas struts (3).
Remove the tailgate at the screws (4).

Transferring components

Transferring retaining clips and stop lugs

Transfer:
- the mounting clips
- the stop lugs on the sides.

Installation

Note! For tightening torques, see Specifications. [1][2]Body and Frame

Installing the tailgate

Install:
- the tailgate. Adjust approximately by screwing the tailgate into the hinges in the same places as prior to removal
- the cable harness
- the hose for the washer nozzle from the outside
- washer nozzle
- the lock mechanism. See: Trunk lid/tailgate lock mechanism Service and Repair
- the handle connector from the outside
- the handle.
Check that tailgate opens and closes.
Install the rear windshield. See: Rear window tailgate Service and Repair.
Adjust the tailgate.
Tighten the 4 M6 screws (4).

Install:
- the gas struts
- the stop lamp
- the wiper motor.
- the panel. See Tailgate/trunk lid panel Tailgate/Trunk Lid Panel.
Adjust the tailgate.
