Steering Gear (Rack) Replacement

Special Tools





Removal

Note: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

Follow instructions for lifting points body frame. Locations





Note: Making sure that the road wheels are in the straight ahead position.





WARNING: Make sure that the ignition key is removed.

CAUTION: Make sure that the steering column lock is engaged.





Vehicles without steering column lock

Note: Make sure that a new component is installed.





Torque: Steering column to steering gear (steering shaft joint), 25 Nm

Drain reservoir fluid power steering. Power Steering Fluid Reservoir

Torque: M6, 10 Nm





Torque: M12, 80 Nm








On both sides.

Remove the wheel. Wheels





On both sides.





Caution: Make sure that the ball joint ball does not rotate.

Torque: Tie rod end to wheel knuckle, 80 Nm

On both sides.





Special Tool: 951 2945

On both sides.





Torque: Front stabilizer bar link to stabilizer bar, 70 Nm

On both sides.





Remove the catalytic converter

Catalytic Converter





Torque: M6, 10 Nm





WARNING: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.

WARNING: Avoid skin contact with the fluid.

Note: Make sure that a new component is installed.





Torque: Delivery and return line, steering gear 18 Nm





Torque: M6, 10 Nm





Torque: M10, 50 Nm





1. Torque: Lower arm front to subframe (rear mounting), 175 Nm

2. Torque: Steering gear to subframe, 140 Nm





1. Torque: Subframe to chassis (Rear screws)
* Stage 1: 150 Nm
* Stage 2: 90 degree

2. Torque: M10, 50 Nm

Installation









Torque: M10, 50 Nm













To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Perform power steering system, bleeding air.

Perform wheel angles check
