DESCRIPTION:

It has come to our attention that it sometimes can be difficult to initiate the windows during PDI or when the windows for some reason has lost their initiation.

NOTE:
The new S80 will lose window initiation ("no auto-up or auto-down") if:

- battery disconnected (front directly rear after approx. 40 seconds)

- any position fault detected.

DDM/PDM DTCs present if not initiated:

"B118E00 Left front window. General Failure Information. No sub type information"

"B118F00 Right front window. General Failure Information. No sub type information"

"B119000 Left rear window. General Failure Information. No sub type information"

"B119100 Right rear window. General Failure Information. No sub type information"

PRODUCT MODIFICATION:

A parameter change has been done in the SW for DDM and PDM and has been implemented in production from 06w48.

TECHNICAL REPORT:

YES If you still have trouble with initiation of the windows after a SW upgrade.

SERVICE:

Please do a PDM and DDM upgrade.

Initiate the windows.

NOTE:
Initiation may be done either electrically or manually.

Electrical:

If window is open, close the window by lifting the control switch and holding it until the window reaches the end stop.

VIDA: "Vehicle Communication" "Diagnostics" "Car Communication" "DDM or PDM" "Advanced" Initiating window position" "Front Door or Rear Door"

Manual:

1. Close the window by lifting the control switch and holding it until the window reaches the end stop.

2. Release the control.

3. Lift the control switch again.

The window tries to move upwards and backs down a bit.

4. Release the switch. Initiation is now completed.

If DTCs are stored to indicate missing calibration they need to be cleared afterwards separately. They will not vanish automatically when initiation/calibration is performed. (Only the status of DTC is changed from Permanent to Intermittent).
