Check
Checking/transferring the components on the transmission
Check that the mating surfaces of the transmission are completely clean.
Lubricate the holes (for the guide sleeves) on the transmission and engine. Use a small amount of grease.
If the transmission is replaced by a new one, transfer components to the new transmission. See: Transmission, transferring components Transmission, Transferring Components.
Checking the torque converter
Ensure that the torque converter is as far into the transmission as possible.
Check that the distance between the cover and the mounting lugs is approximately 13 mm. Use a ruler.
Apply a small amount of grease to the torque converter lugs.
Flushing the oil cooler
Position the lower hose/pipe from the oil cooler in a drip pan.
Using a syringe or similar, flush the oil cooler with oil via the upper hose.
Checking the carrier plate
Check that the carrier plate is not damaged or cracked.
To replace the carrier plate see: Carrier plate, replacing Service and Repair.
Check that the mating surfaces of the engine are clean. Check that the guide sleeves, one on the transmission and one on the engine, are in place and free of faults.
