DESCRIPTION:
While performing a California (CA) emissions inspection on a 2006-2007 S60R or V70R, the Two
Speed Idle test (TSI) might be aborted due to an inability to hold 2500 RPM steadily.
If the inspection is performed at an independent inspection facility, the vehicle should be sent to a Volvo
retailer for an evaluation of this condition.
SERVICE:
If a vehicle cannot successfully perform the TSI test:
1. Connect to VIDA to check for readiness flags. This can be found under DIAGNOSTICS>VEHICLE
COMMUNICATION>Engine Control Module (ECM)>Advanced>Readiness code.
2. Connect to VIDA to check for DTCs. If no ECM DTCs are set, then do NOT select Erase ALL even
if DTCs are set in other modules because this could reset the readiness flags.
If a technician does not find any faults from Step 1 and 2, then the customer/vehicle should be sent to
a CA referee for retesting. The customer must present the invoice from a Volvo retailer stating that the
vehicle was evaluated and no faults were found.
The Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) will waive any additional testing fees so the only thing the
customer will be charged for is the vehicle tag. This is a normal fee.
