Fault-Tracing
Fault tracing
Checking the gearshift position sensor
- Check that the mechanical gear selector cable is correctly adjusted. Adjust if necessary.
- Ignition on.
- Read off the position of the gear selector.
Move the gear selector lever to all the gear positions several times to check the function of the gearshift position sensor.
The selected position must be the same as that displayed in the diagnostic tool.
Note! If the value indicates "Undefined position" in P, R, N or D, the adjustment of the mechanical cable must be checked and the values must be read off again.

Continue - Erasing diagnostic trouble code (DTC)
-------------------------------------------------
Erasing diagnostic trouble code (DTC)
Note! When erased all stored diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) with relevant information disappear. If there are other diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) for the transmission control module (TCM) these must be fault-traced first. If necessary go to Car communication and read "Extended diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)".
- Ignition on.
- Erase diagnostic trouble codes by clicking the VCT2000 symbol.
Continue - Calibrating the position sensor in the control module
-------------------------------------------------
Calibrating the position sensor in the control module
- Ignition on.
- Move the gear selector lever to Neutral position (N).
Activate calibration of the position sensor in the transmission control module (TCM) by clicking the VCT2000 symbol.
Caution! During calibration, it is important that no diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) for the gear selector module (GSM) are stored and that the gear selector assembly is otherwise free of faults.
Continue - Reading off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)
-------------------------------------------------
Reading off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)
- Ignition off
- Wait two minutes.
- Ignition on.
- Move the gear selector lever to all the gear positions several times.
- Read out diagnostic trouble codes by clicking the VCT2000 symbol.
If present code diagnostic fault code (DTC) remains stored replace the transmission control module (TCM).

The fault should have been detected and remedied. As this is not the case fault-tracing has failed.
Exit fault-tracing for this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) or make another attempt.
Do you want to exit fault-tracing?
