Condition
The driving section of the transmission is disengaged when certain conditions are met:
- Stationary.
- The engine is idling.
- The brake pedal depressed.
- Gear selector in position D.
The function decreases fuel consumption and vibration from the transmission when running the engine at idle speed. The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the transmission control module (TCM) registers that the engine is juddering or running unevenly when engaging the neutral check.

The control module "Emergency mode I" program has been initiated.

Possible source
- Solenoid SLS jammed in the ON position.
- Solenoid SLC1 has jammed.
- Internal malfunction in the transmission
- Internal fault in the control module.

Fault symptom[s]
- General warning lamp lit
- Malfunction indicator light (MIL), on
- Engine speed oscillates
- No lock-up
