Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information

Condition

The transmission control module (TCM) has three different internal memories, one for the software application (FLASH), one for permanent storage of information (EEPROM) and one for current information (RAM). When turning off the ignition, certain information will be saved from the RAM memory to the EEPROM and then deleted from RAM.
The information that is stored includes diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) with associated data, adaptation values, etc. If the transmission control module (TCM) registers that the storage of data to the control module EEPROM memory has not been carried out correctly, the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) will be generated.
The diagnostic trouble code can be diagnosed when the ignition is on.

Substitute value
- The transmission control module (TCM) takes a basic value for adaptation.
- Any stored diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) may be lost.

Possible source
- Internal fault in transmission control module (TCM).

Fault symptom[s]
- Vibration or jerkiness when changing gear.
