Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information
Condition
On the circuit board for the gear selector module (GSM) three Hall sensors. A permanent magnet on the gear lever affects the sensor output signals to the gear selector module (GSM). When the gear selector is moved to manual position "Man", the automatic transmission will still be hydraulic in position D, but by moving the gear selector upwards (+) the gear selector module (GSM) will send a signal to the transmission control module (TCM) to engage a higher gear. Moving the gear selector downwards (-) sends a signal from the gear selector module (GSM) to the transmission control module (TCM) to engage a lower gear. If the gear selector module (GSM) registers that the signals from the gear selector do not agree with the "Man" position, the diagnostic travel code (DTC) is generated.
The diagnostic trouble code can be diagnosed when the ignition is on.
Substitute value
- No manual "Man" gear changing.
Possible source
- Gear selector module (GSM) not working.
Fault symptom[s]
- Changes gear according to D in "Man" position.
- No gear changing.
