Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information
Condition
The output speed sensor is located inside the gearbox. The transmission control module (TCM) calculates the speed of the gearbox output shaft based on the signal. The signal is used to compare the output speed with the input speed of the gearbox and with the vehicle speed. The speed information is put on the CAN network by the brake control module (BCM).
With the help of these signals, the control module can calculate the shifting points. RPM and speed information affect the adjustment of the system pressure and the reduction in engine torque for gear changing. This results in smoother gear changes.
The information is also used to control the lock-up function. If the control module registers that the voltage in the circuit to the gearbox output speed sensor is too low, a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) will be generated.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be diagnosed when driving normally.
Substitute value
- The transmission control module (TCM) uses the speed signal from the brake control module (BCM).
- If the brake control module (ECM) also sends a signal that the speed signal is incorrect, the auxiliary program Emergency mode 1 will become active.
Hint: Emergency mode in case of malfunction Emergency Mode In Case of Malfunction
- The neutral check function is blocked.
- Lock-up function is blocked.
Possible source
- Break in circuit for output speed sensor.
- Power supply to output speed sensor short-circuited to ground.
- Gearbox output speed sensor not working.
- Internal fault in transmission control module (TCM).
Fault symptom[s]
Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit (if Emergency mode 1).
- General warning lamp lit.
- No lock-up function.
- Harsh gear changing (if Emergency mode 1).
- No gear changing (if Emergency mode 1).
