Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information
Condition
The transmission control module (TCM) receives a signal about input and output speed from the transmission's two speed sensors. There is a determined ratio for each gear and the signals help calculate the transmission control module (TCM) gear ratio. If the Transmission Control Module (TCM) registers that the gear ratio is in gear ratio that is close (4 %) to another gear than the gear the control module has selected, the diagnostic trouble code TCM-006x is generated. Which diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored depends on which circuit is faulty.
The diagnostic trouble code can be diagnosed at an oil temperature above +20 °C in the transmission as well as approx. 4% outside normal operating range of the gear in question.
Substitute value
- Auxiliary program Emergency mode 1 in the transmission control module (TCM) has started.
Hint: Emergency mode in case of malfunction Emergency Mode In Case of Malfunction
Possible source
- Contact resistance or one of the solenoids has stuck in OFF or ON position.
- Mechanical faults in gearbox.
Fault symptom[s]
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit.
- General warning lamp lit
- Abnormally slipping gears.
- No gear changing.
