Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information
Condition
Oil Temperature Sensor:
The oil temperature sensor gives the transmission control module (TCM) a signal that is used for the temperature controlled lock-up and high temperature program functions. The sensor has a temperature sensitive resistor with negative temperature coefficient (NTC). The signal (voltage) drops with rising oil temperature. If the transmission control module (TCM) receives a signal from the oil temperature sensor that has not changed for about 10 minutes since the engine was started, the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is generated.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be diagnosed for at least two minutes of normal driving in gear positions D, 4, 3, 2 or Geartronic (MAN) and engine temperature when starting higher than 70 °C or the gearbox oil temperature is higher than 50 °C.
Substitute value
- Transmission control module (TCM) assumes an oil temperature of 80 °C.
- Lock-up function is blocked.
- Slip lock-up function is blocked.
- Neutral check function is blocked.
Possible source
- Contact resistance in the terminals
- Oil temperature sensor not working.
Fault symptom[s]
- General warning lamp lit
