Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information

Condition

Oil Temperature Sensor:

The oil temperature sensor gives the transmission control module (TCM) a signal that is used for the temperature controlled lock-up and high temperature program functions. The sensor has a temperature sensitive resistor with negative temperature coefficient (NTC). The signal (voltage) increases with decreasing oil temperature. If the transmission control module (TCM) receives a signal from the oil temperature sensor that is too high for about 10 seconds, the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is generated.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be diagnosed after at least two minutes of normal driving with an engine temperature in excess of 50 °C.

Substitute value
- Transmission control module (TCM) assumes an oil temperature of 80 °C.
- Lock-up function is blocked.
- Slip lock-up function is blocked.
- Neutral check function is blocked.

Possible source
- Contact resistance in the terminals
- The signal cable is short-circuited to voltage.
- Oil temperature sensor not working.

Fault symptom[s]
- General warning lamp lit
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit.
- Harsh gear changing
