Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information
Condition
The oil temperature sensor transmits a signal to the transmission control module (TCM) which is used for various functions, such as temperature controlled lock-up and the initiation of high-temperature programs. The sensor has an NTC (negative temperature coefficient) resistor. The signal (voltage) decreases with increasing oil temperature. The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the transmission control module (TCM) receives too low a signal from the oil temperature sensor for less than 10 seconds.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be diagnosed when the ignition is switched on.
Oil Temperature Sensor:
Substitute value
- Transmission control module (TCM) assumes an oil temperature of 80 °C.
- Lock-up function is blocked.
- Slip lock-up function is blocked.
- Neutral check function is blocked.
Possible source
- The signal cable is short-circuited to ground.
- Oil temperature sensor not working.
Fault symptom[s]
- General warning lamp lit
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit.
- No lock-up function.
- Harsh gear changing
