Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information
Condition
The transmission control module (TCM) checks the function of the lock-up solenoid by comparing the speed signal from the transmision speed sensor with the speed (rpm) signal from the transmission speed (rpm) sensor. The signals must then show the same calculated speed (rpm). The transmission control module (TCM) also compares the speed from the transmission speed sensor with the engine speed (RPM). The RPM should then be greater or less than the transmission output RPM or speed depending on the gear selected.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:
- The engine has stopped suddenly.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be diagnosed when the engine is running.
Substitute value
- Adaptation function is blocked.
- Neutral check function is blocked.
Possible source
- The vehicle has rolled backwards at the same time as lever position D has been selected.
- The engine has stopped due to lack of fuel.
- Mechanical fault in engine.
- Lock-up function incorrectly engaged when the vehicle is stopped.
Fault symptom[s]
- General warning lamp lit
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit.
- Harsh gear changing
- No gear changing.
- Abnormally slipping gears.
